Phase 2 Alpha 6 made it to Maga Falls in Long Pasia

We have just met Alpha 6 on their return from trek prior to departing for Dive Island. They wrote this blog on their journey back to Kota Kinabalu.

Phase 2 began at Long Pasia, after a 7 hour journey in a bus and 4 x 4s, the trekking began.

TG, Gary, Gordon, Matt D, Shaun, Andy, Sophie T,
Paige, Tarnya, Ali, Barbara, Mary (plus Anne taking photo)

Each day began with packing up camp, then trekked to different location to set up a new camp. Life also revolved around food. Eating gourmet one pot wonders and a whole 6 crackers for lunch, as opposed to the legendary 4 of Alpha 6 in phase 1.

The trekking
Sophie practising jungle skills
All set up for the night
TG putting finishing touches to the dining area
Jungle stove
Ali preparing supper

On 7th November, we celebrated Andy's birthday with the trek guides, who made traditional jungle pumpkin pie, showed us how to shop at the jungle supermarket and taught us bamboo craft.

Mary with new hair decoration

After the Resupply Camp one of the guides, Fozzy, showed us how to make vine bracelets and animal traps. The following day we had a long 8 hour trek to Maga Falls. We encountered various obstacles, but the biggest being the crossing of the Maga River. At Maga camp the rain soaked us from head to toe, even the Project Managers got wet during the night. Luckily the sun was shining the next day. We took time to see the magnificent Maga Falls and the bat caves.

The next few days we spent trekking back to Long Pasia. On arrival in Long Pasia we experienced great hospitality by our hosts at our homestay. We had our fill of local food and enjoyed a night in a bed.

Now we are off to Dive island for sun, sea and sand.

Hi Shaun (Alpha 6). Friday morning here, just read your latest blog having returned from your jungle trek, you are probably now enjoying dive island and the beach! A couple of really good pics of you and the group, you look relaxed and happy - good to see that my sandals are getting a lot of use - you'll have to polish them before giving them back!!
Happy birthday for Wednesday, what a place to spend it,it will be one to remember.
Christmas lights go on in Chippenham tonight - whoopee!! J&M send their love, they're having problems with their computer - Bren says its cos its too old!
Look forward to hearing news of the dive, love you loads,

Hi Andrew (alpha 6)
Great to see the photos and tales of your jungle trip. Glad at last you have learnt how to make a trap to catch your food!! Your birthday sounded memorable. What on earth is the food round your neck? Looks like garlic.
I guess now you are enjoying the beach and diving. Quite nice to end your trip with that activity.
heard from Nick today after long period of silence! He is home the weekend you go to Austria and wants the two of you to go out on the Friday night. You definately have to keep that evening free for him!
Fun Day at church tomorrow and the it's the Christmas Tree festival the weekend you get home. Seems strange it is now only a week before we see you and hear all your tales. I notice there is still an absence of a post card!!
Take care, enjoy the diving. Much love M & D xxx

Hi Andrew (alpha 6)
Just had another look at the photos of your group.
Who's trainers have you got on?! You didn't go with a pair that colour. Do you have a communal clothes store?
Don't forget to trash any clothes or kit that is beyond recognision (I imagine that's most of it!)before coming home.
Just had lunch with Sue Wick who sends her love. Saw Pauline yesterday, Joe is applying to study economics at uni.
Much love M & D xxx

I look forward to hearing everything when you get back! I see that you're off to Dive Island soon, i hope you have a brilliant time there. I receieved your letter from your (MY ;D) Dad recently, and it made my day, so happy to hear from you personally! :P I've given your family a letter, but i have a few more that i'm handing in tomorrow, so hope they get there safely! I've typed these ones up as my handwriting is terrible lol, aswell as having zero energy to write. I'm currently tucked up on my bed, been horrifically ill all weekend so pray for me, that i don't pass on, and be found swarmed by stray cats.. :D Anywho my fellow glasses buddy, have a great time in the following days, hope to see more on the blog about you soon! Chin chin for now, I'm so proud of you and miss you immensely xD xxx Oh! And cracking pictues i must say, so great to see you lol!

Love from your Goldfish Chloe!

P.S Danny says Hello aswell :) I talked with him in 6th form about you, so i'm sure you'll be hearing from him soon!

P.P.P.S <-- I sure do ramble on... ^^ Where are your glasses!! Noes! I can't be the only one to wear them now (forgetting Danny)! I expect to see them in your next picture, clearly with an orangutan attached! I wont be satisfied till i see one! >:D Byes for now! xxx

Laters, Joan

Hi Oliver, alpha 3. Sarah has just rung as she is desperately trying to blog you but each time she tries the verification code doesn't appear on her ipad - just a question mark appears so she isn't able to publish. She will try again tomorrow but if you don't get anything from her she is thinking of you and sending lots of love.
Mummy xx
PS I am totally up to date with Xfactor and Strictly Yey x

Lieve Soof!!
Super cool!
Hier gaat verder alles lekker.
(NOT!!)

Hi Andrew (Alpha 6)
Only a few days left. I wonder if you are pleased to be coming home to a good roast with lots of potatoes, or whether you will be sorry to be leaving.Probably both.
Anyway we are loking forward to seeing you on Saturday morning, rather early!
Been getting the tombla ready for the Christmas Tree festival which is this weekend. We'll be going there after we get you back home.
Hope the diving has gone well and the sea was warm.
We wonder if you got any of our postcards we sent from India? We sent you three, So far have only heard of three people here who recieved a card from us and we sent about fifteen. So much for India post!
Look forward to seeing you on Sat.
Lots of love Mum & Dad xxx

Heeey lieve ollie,

Hi Anne W

Dont know if youre getting the messages that I leave. Really getting into the Christmas spirit, bank balance depleting with the present buying. It has decided to cool down now which is coinciding with the heating at work not functioning. Youll need your thermals in the glass room!!
Simon has booked a cottage in North Devon for us all to spend new year together, including Lucys family so that was a nice surprise and something to look forward to.
Mandy says she saw Gwynn and he seemed to be coping.
Off shopping tomorrow to get Nics baby a pressie

Take care
