Expedition 11I - preparing for take-off

It's a busy time of year at Raleigh Borneo, with not just one, but two expeditions over the summer.  While the ten week projects for Expedition 11D are well under way, the five week projects for Expedition 11I are about to be unveiled to the new team.

As the in-country team prepare to reveal details of the work that lies ahead, the 11I project managers are settling into Field Base, where a warm welcome awaited them upon arrival.

No expedition could possibly begin without the traditional Raleigh name game,

after which, I am delighted to introduce the new team!

Clockwise from top right, we have Tom Moody, Amy Mills, Helen Boothman, Andy Brown, Lucy Bagshaw, Anne Strong, Gabby Brunton, Caroline Banks and Alex Miller.  They are heading off to Base Camp tomorrow, so we will return in a few days' time to see how they got on with their training.

Hi Amy
Brilliant to log on and see great photos of you and the 11l team. You look a friendly lot!
Hope you enjoy the training at base camp and look forward to seeing more about it on the blog.
Everything's fine here, Hannah popped in for her tea and I am pleased to say I have found a good book for my Kindle!
Work again tomorrow....
Borneo looks like a wonderful place, relaxed and such a different environment. Enjoy it and take care. All love, mum, dad, Hannah and nanny xxxx

From Richard Masters (Dad) to Owain Masters (Alpha 1)

Hi Ow

Pleased to see photos of you supervising the work. We're back from France, AA has moved to Binsted, Tom in Devon with Carey, Rafa still in Nam. Alex for a bit, I stoppped Dad writing a list of where everyone was because I thought that might get a bit repetetive (he was gonna tell you Luke was in Norway and the grandparents were in Worldham, who'd have known!!! :). Looks quality out there, a little bit jealous!!! I have commandeered your room for a while, very messy!!! In all honesty, the photos did make us laugh. Hope all goes well, I'm hoping by now you have invented a fair few ridiculous games of some sort to keep everyone entertained. If you could sneak a sunbear home I won't mind...:). See you in 6/5 weeks
Love from everyone

Hey Malcolm - Alpha 4

Uncle Chuck here. I'm proud of you. I'm cooking some southern fried chicken and wish you were here to taste some. When you come to ATL I'll make sure to make some for you. Enjoy your time in Malaysia; it looks like you're having fun.

Note for Chloe Senior 11L i believe, from Mum, Dad and Carolyn

Haven't seen anything about your safe arrival on the blog yet, but presume all is OK. Hope you had a good journey and that you don't have too many bad experiences with the creepy crawlies and the long drop loos.

Love you loads. Mum XXX
