Phase 3 starts today!

It’s been a whirlwind of a changeover for the past two days, with our teams excited to have time to catch up with their friends at Borneo Paradise.  Just one problem – too many friends and too little time!

All too soon, it was time to sort out all the supplies,

and to pack up the the rucksacks and get back on the bus... but where to?

Heading to Kg Rumantai and the Alpha 1 kindergarten project are:

PMs James, Pete and Garry and venturers Felicity Bone, Omar Tellage, Reinier Haverkamp Begemann, Khyal Fairclough, Cameron Heeley, Josh Brumby, Natalie Tunney, Millie Smith, Madeleine Gray, Georgina Peach and Choon Wei Thian.

Off to Alpha 2 to complete the gravity water feed are the following:

PMs Dave, Phili and Emma and Ian Wildsmith, Joep Claus, Arthur Campbell, Eleanor Tetlow, Leontien Roos, John Legge, Jing Wen Ong, Louise Bajada, Aaron Ong, Robyn Fitzharris, Ali Gordon and Lisa Egelers.

Kg Vunui Lokos looks forward to welcoming a new Alpha 3 team, as follows:
Gemma Hall, Jack Regan, Shawna Timmons, Olivier Uijtewaal, Oliver Conner, Albert Cheng, Guy Scott-Dalgleish, Nor Hafidzah Abin, Mun Mun Wong, Julie Peletier, Robert Nash and Emma Johnson, with PMs  Kate, Helen and Becky.

Alpha 4’s work at the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre will be completed by:

Sin Mei Fong, Christopher Cheeseman, Louise Scothern, Abigail Goodburn, Shen Quang Loo, Emily Griffin, Kelly Lawless, Yannick Pelder, Maxim Terwey and Ivy Mills. The PMs will be Caroline, Nicky and CK.

Our next project involves a slight change to our environmental projects, with work at Imbak Canyon taking a break until next year.  Instead, finishing the work we started in Phase 1 at Alpha 6, a new team is heading to Maliau Basin to repair the gravity water feed.  They will be:

Ben Summers, John McFarlane, Josephine van den Brink, Christian Zazulan, Andrew Dyke, Mary Greene, Shi Han Chong, Jay Sakallioglu, Laura West, Merel van Olffen.  The PM team comprises Abby, Stacey and Paz.

Alpha 7 is a new project for this phase.  The very excited team making their way to the Pitas region to carry out an environmental survey includes:

Aaron Graham, Evinn Soo, Seema Sharma, Cathrien Sickler, Rory Batt, Neil Wellstead, Dan Clarke, Fiona Jeffery and Lucy Jellicoe.  The PMs are Leigh and Emily.

Alpha 8 are heading to the classroom today to start their dive training, and will move onto their trek next week. The new team, led by PMs Clive and Marie includes:

Joe Treacy, Mandeep Ghuman, Constantijn Crans, Pia Mathews, Steven Schrijen, Rob Grindal, Kieran Brady, Thijs Kraaijeveld van Hemert, Shu May Han and Elouise Royans.

Last but not least, our new Alpha 9 trek-divers will be PMs Andrea and Jo, accompanied by the new venturer team:
Thomas Webster-Dunstan, Eleanor Bowe, Nicolas Brouwers, Tom Rumsey, Yogesh Mistry, James Peard, Emma Bean, Claire Cottee, Stephanie Bell, Ben Fort and Su Wen Ong.

Oh Mary, last phase :( but :))) for me!
Right well after our conversation yesterday I have resolved to make my blogs exciting!
Dad went out last night with work people and got home at silly o'clock this morning but Mike was here at 8am to go to an auction in Surrey. I had to practically drag him out of bed - that'll teach him! we both know it won't! x
Kate is home :) we are going crimmy shopping today, probably to Lakey.
Don't forget to think of us tomorrow having to endure Marlene's cooking! It's a tough job but someone has to do it!
Anyway I better go,
Have a wonderful phase 3, do your best and be yourself (that sounds really profound, ha)
love and hugs from your now very much more exciting mother

Just thought i'd let you know they've changed the facebook chat noise!
It's no longer that annoying pop but they have replaced it with something equally as annoying!

Thijs (Alpha 8)
We genieten mee. Veel groeten van ons allemaal, Paps

For Marie Thomas

Alright my bird,

Hope that dive training has got off to a good start and that you haven't suffered too much through the awful PADI videos. All worth it though as soon as you get under the water - hope that you get to see loads of great things. If you see a whale shark, give it a high five for me.

Have looked out for anything from travel butler, but I checked the sent items to see what you'd actually said to them and I don't think that you've actually sent them any email about changing your flights back to London. I'm going to wait until Monday to see if they send an email. If they don't then I'm going to email them and ask them to see if they can get you back for around the 10th January, missing out the Cook Islands all together and coming home from Auckland. I hope this is what you wanted. If it isn't then hopefully you'll have some way of contacting me to stop things being changed, but I'm pretty certain that is what you had said. Will let you know how it goes.

Dive well my beautiful.

Love matt x x

Good to see you looking so well and still smiling ahead of the trek. Great to hear your news through the e-mail, but really looking forward to being able to hear all your stories when you get back... and if an Orangs come visiting again try to make sure you are there to say hello and not out of reach somewhere!! Love you load, Dad xxx

This is something you will never forget.

Liefs, Peter

Hello Mary,
Some pictures of you have popped up on facebook! Loads from the 1st phase it was good to be able to see what you were doing,

HOW CUTE WERE THE PUPPIES??????!!
and the kids were pretty cute too,

You looked pretty dirty, I hope they let you have a shower,
now you've told mum that blog posts have to be exciting I feel a bit under pressure!
We're going next door later for thanksgiving (Happy Thanksgiving btw!) I'm excited for the food, you must be struggling for food over there, I saw pictures of you racing for a crappy cracker so times must be hard! I also saw you nibbling on one so I assume you won, well done!

Mum also told me that you have been labelled "the machine" and "the tank", I TOLD you you were unnaturally strong! It's not just that me and mum are ridiculously weak! :P

Anyways have a good time on your last phase, still missing you,

Lots of love,

Lieve Yannick (Alpha 4),

For Julie - alpha 3

Juul!
Loes

MARY GREENE! Ahhh it was soo nice to hear from you fb-wise the other day. I too feel we should have a massive catch up session, I feel we could watch ANTM while catching up with junk food. Firstly I don't know whether you know this yet but Pizza Hut in Loughton has closed :O! I was shocked to my very core. I genuinely felt lost when I saw the empty room - normally a haven of pizzas and all you can eat ice cream! It was as if someone had crushed a piece of my heart, mind you that could have been blood trying to push it's way through my clogged arteries. Either way it HURT! I also discovered a way to put youtube music on to my ipod!!! I now have music more recent than the 70's on my MP3!!! It seems as if everything in my life is having a bit of a revamp! I have some funny funny stories to tell you when you get back but given the delicate nature of them I shan't publish them on the internet. I also felt, given the charitable nature of your trip, I should do something good for charity. So, I gave Phil the last bits of bacon in the fridge.... I know what you're thinking - WOW! But, you know what they say - 'charity starts at home'. Some may even go as far to compare me with Geldof, but I am a humble person and am quick to dismiss such claims. So, you'd better do some damn fine work to live up to me!:P I miss you lots and hope this final stretch really does challenge you so you can say "I did it!" at the end. I know your having an amazing time and from the photos I can tell you are still alive. I'll blog to you soon xxxxxx

For Marie Thomas,

Alright Bird,

You'll be well under the water now, seeing a whole new world of life, that seems so detached from the surface world. Sebastien (the lobster) had it right.

Glad I waited to email travel butler, as I got a message form them today. They wanted clarification about changing flights and missing the Cook Islands. And flying from NZ on the 10th. Hopefully they'll get back to me in the next couple of days with some options.

Today was great in Truro - woke up to more snow and despite having to do ARC course during the day, me and the lads have just got back from sledging!!!! Wish you were here to play in the snow with.

Miss you lots,

How are you enjoying the last phase? You're not missing much here - just snow, snow and more snow! Should be plenty here when you get back so don't worry :p Would be loving it more if I had time to go and play in it,but, as it is, it is just making walking anywhere a bit of a risky business...had the first fall today, right down the steps above the house but luckily the snow is quite soft so my dignity was the only thing damaged!
Been madly busy with uni and work recently, but next semester should be a lot better :)
Can't wait to see you - missing you loads!

Dear James Mclean 10j Alpha 1, Thank you for your postcard, it arrived Monday 29th, it was good to hear from you, were looking forward to you coming home for Christmas. We have put a two parcels in the post today for the children, and a card for the ladies/ teachers. We realised, which is not good that we didin't know what laungange the Borneo people speak, I assumed at least some English. We had a really good time with Geraldine and Bryan, we plan to meet up much more often in the future now we have the camper, Phil wants to call it the Truck, you two can help him choose a name for it over Christmas. A young man came to Grandads while he was out on Friday, he was encouraging people any age to try Karate, we asked Grandad the boys name it was Glen about 17, he had a good Humour and teased Grandad back, anyway he called for Grandad later that evening and took him up there it's at the school at the top of the road, Grandad seemed to enjoy it he said he'd go again, Glen said their oldest member is 83. If he only watches it will be company for him.
Well Its snowing all over the country the North east and Scotland have had the worst about 500mm so far. We've had about 10mm and everything is still moving around town. The snows just hit the M25 and stopped it for most of the day. We think you will notice the cold when you come home. You will be getting 2 parcels which will have to be signed for they are for your attention and should be there in 7 days. They are all wrapped up as Christmas presents,so you will have to explain that to them if they don't know.lots of love Mum And Philxx

For Marie Thomas,

Alright my bird,

I hope that the diving is continuing to be amazing and that you've seen some really cool marine life.

Travel butler got back to me about flight options. They have proposed flying from Auckland on 11th and arriving at Heathrow at 10:40am on the Jan 12th. I assume these would be good dates for you. However, they are saying its going to cost an additional £107.30.

I'm slightly reluctant to say yes to confirm this with them as it is a lot of money. I think you'll pick up these messages on Thursday, so I will try and stall them until I hear from you. However, if they need confirmation ASAP then I'm gonna go for it. I guess its one locum. If I haven't heard from you by Thursday then I'll just go for it as well.

I'm heading home tomorrow for a few days. ARC course and competencies went well today I think and we have the rest of the week off to write elective report. The snow is thinning down here, so I'm hoping that by going home they'll be more snow there! I'll give your love to the gang, which I'm sure they'll send right back at you.

Dive well my beautiful one,

Matt x x x x x x x

Hi Marie

Was so good to speak to you last week and to hear your voice - the phase sounded amazing! hope you have a good chill out before heading off on the trek. Enjoy the diving.

Had a lovely time with Tedstar - it was brilliant to see his little face light up when he realized it was Auntie Marie on the phone. They all send their love as do Gail and Rob, Michele, Paul - spoke to Alexandra too who sends much love and thinks the pics are awesome. Sara L says to say HI and give you her love too.Grandpa sends his love and wishes he was out there too!! We all miss you muchly.

Envious of that lovely warm weather you are enjoying espescially since it is -5 outside and the kitchen has a huge gaping hole into conservatory as we wait for the doors to arrive!!

Take care lovely

Much love M&D

Msg for Mary Greene,

Well my lovely, just to let you know that I am wussing out and taking to my duvet for the next few days. It occured to me that as a TROPICAL person I ought to be somewhere warmer. I am sitting in keith's office in my dressing gown watching the cars sliding on the ice. we have no curtains and the builders opposite keep looking almost beseeching me to either get some blinds or get dressed. (my hair is perpendicular to my head) remember Mary that even if they dragged you through a jungle backwards and you didn't wash for a month you will NEVER look as terrible as I do right now!

I may take a trip to the kettle soon. I shall update you on my progress...if I make it. I know you are proud of me. Sending you big hugs. Enjoy the final phase Chris XXXXXX

For Eleanor Tetlow,

Hi Ellie, hope the new task is going well; gosh its Weds already! I bought your ticket home yesterday - we are flying! Very cold here and still snow everywhere. I took Isobel to the physio yesterday and got stuck in the car park. She sat in the front while I was digging the car out of the snow giving helpful advice like: 'this is so embarrassing' and 'this car is rubbish, we should get a new one. A landrover!'. Bring back Ellie!!
Can we send her on Raleigh at 14!!!!!!!!
The house is getting dirtier and dirtier. No matter how hard we try and stick ahead of the builders there is just dust everywhere. Still camped in your room but hope to be in ours at the weekend.
You should have money on your card - it took longer to do than planned as we couldnt find the details!
Looking out for a photo of you. Love Dad xxx

Hi Tom, mum here! I went into town today and am already fed up of 'the 12 days of Christmas' despite it only being dec 1st! I shall be on Valium by the time you are home! Still a steady 32 degrees here but some amazing tropical storms in the last few days - I guess experiencing that under canvas must be something else. It sounds as if you managed to replace your camera, well done, can't wait to see your video diary thingy you described! Off to bed now, nearly midnight, sweet dreams, Mum xxx

Joe Treacy

Hi Joe

How are you? I am just home from work having spent the day looking out the window and willing it to snow, just so I could get home early. And did it snow, no not a chance, I phoned Micheal with my fingers crossed and yet again no snow, but there is my brothers and parents knee deep in snow (well not quite. So long story short I didn't get home early but I have my fingers crossed Evelyn Cusack assures us that tonight will be really really bad so I am requesting a lie on tomorrow morning. Haven't been up to anything too exciting, we spent Monday night lagging pipes outside until 9pm, thank god I bought ski gear a few years back. God help me if I was ever anywhere really cold. I went mad today and have the turkey and ham order for the christmas dinner. Yes I am taking change of them, ie, I am not doing the cooking, wonder if the others will pick up on that hint. All are well and the kids are enjoying building their snow men, telling me about the toy show (it was really good this year) and looking forward to santa. That man really needs to come to me this year. Right time to get food, talk soon

Hello Mary Greene, beautifulest girl I've ever seen!
Hope you're enjoying phase 3, it's my fav phase.
Thanksgiving was fun...too much to drink and a hangover, but hey. Richard was telling me he has a project for you, but I was too tipsy to take it in, he said he will contact you!!!
Me and Dad went to Lakey last night and there was a big problem on the M25 so lots of the late shift workers couldn't get in so loads of shops were closed. The ones that were open were empty, if only I'd have had a clue what I wanted t buy, it would have been christmas shopping heaven. I did buy a calendar and someone walked off with it :( .. mean person.
I have sent off a piece on Jasper for the Oldies Club news letter, we couldn't get all the pics to send though so it may be picture less which is a huge shame. He has been rounding up Hollie in the snow and looking so handsome xx
I may be doing a transport run in the next 2 weeks, a poodle from Romford to Norwich.....not in the snow I hope.
oh but the best news is... (drum roll) your room transformation has begun!! tadaah! ... well the ceiling's being painted and the walls are getting an undercoat but you get the picture!
Well I love you Mary and remember keep calm and carry on xxx!

under coat but you get the picture!

Saw the pictures onf facebook Kate mentioned, she's right, the puppies were cute ;) and the kids of course, but not as cute as YOU!
Last phase eh? Cor, i bet Rae is hopping with excitement for when you return to her :)
Not much is happening around here, apart from the snow, ice, slush, and numerous people falling over (yes it made me laugh, until i slipped and smacked into a railing)

Cant wait to see you when you come home, its been too long since i've heard your beautiful voice.
Hope you're still having the time of your life (from the pictures it looks like you are) and come home safe!

Hi Joep,
Dus koud. Volgende keer beter. Hou vol, geniet en kijk uit.

FOR GUY SCOTT-DALGLEISH

Dear Guy - just seen great pic of you starting out on Phase 3. I am sure you have having a great time. England is gripped with snow and ice. The lane in our village is a skating rink and I'm not risking it! It is SO SO COLD! Minus 8 last night. Will skyped up from Leeds yesterday and showed us the two feet of snow in the quad outside his room! He's wearing his army boots to get around. Crazy! I'm just about to email your Mum to fix up our Christmas dates, I think you have the Mitchell family staying for three nights! Sorry about that!! It'll be great fun and can't wait to hear all your adventures. You'll have the added advantage of cousin Will knowing exactly what you are talking about.
HAVE FUN! No leeches yet I hope! Lots of love from all Mitchells xx

It's our Christmas do on Friday, which should be lots of fun, so I better start getting in the Christmas spirit. And then I better start some shopping as well! I'll help you with yours when you get home.

See you soon. Lots of love,

For Marie Thomas

Alright my bird,

So I think that today was your last day of sub aqua adventures - I hope that you've had an amazing time. Next stop trekking heaven? Bring on the leeches.

Terrible news today - England lost the bid to host the 2018 World Cup - it went to Russia. More interestingly Qatar are hosting the 2022 world cup. Also, did you know that 2bn people live within 4hrs flight of Qatar (one of its selling points). Clearly I've been procrastinating from doing my elective report.

I've asked travel butler to confirm the flight changes and given them all the necessary card details. Haven't heard back from them yet but I'm sure I will tomorrow. Means that hopefully you'll be back in England on 12th jan.

Hoping that I might hear from you in between diving and trekking, though not expecting to.

Anyway I'm gonna go and sit in front of the fire and watch various different news reports about all the huge depths of snow all over the UK - not enough in Wycombe for my liking though!

Have fun my darling,

Matt

Hi Ellie,
Mum and I bought a new mattress yesterday (it will be delivered on Thu 9th) and our room is nearly done. Mum is panicking that we'll still be in your bedroom with all our stuff on the 18th! Your B+S say thats fine because you're used to sleeping on the floor!!! Mum doesn't think you'll see the funny side!
Anyway looks like you'll have your own bed back.
Still bitterly cold here and no local trains to or from Glasgow.
The house is still full of dust - so W + I have taken the excuse that they don't need to do their jobs.
Isobel is absolutely mad that the Academy is one of only 10 high schools in Glasgow that are still open. Over half the schools in Scotland are shut and today it is minus 21C in Braemar. You are going to feel the cold!!
Rung todayabout your insurance for the next trip. We'll have some jobs to do before mum finishes school but not all unpleasant - dentist and hairdressers, doctors and shopping!! I thought we could go shopping for clothes for you and also buy mum her present - you can be the advisor!!
Love from us all in the snow

Beste Thijs (Aplha 8),
Paps.

Arthur Campbell Alpha 2

Hello there Arthur! Its ellie!! How the hell are you?? Are you having the most incredible time? Costa Rica was INSANE, hands down, Raleigh has been the most incredible experience of my life. I got home on the 28th, and so badly wish I had stayed for the full 10 weeks, but I'm off to Australia so c'est la vie. I thought I would give your blog a read and send you a message! How was your trek? Mine was pretty damn good, I went to Nicaragua where it was boiling hot, and climbed a couple volcanoes (pretty casual :P) There was a new trek in this expedition, which had people getting lost in the jungle late at night, without food or water, and walking through mud up to their waist..gotta say I'm glad I missed that one. It is beyond weird and overwhelming being home, I don't know how your living conditions have been, but being back in a bed with warm showers and decent food is just plain weird. I'll leave this short, as I wanna save stories for when I see you as I'm sure there will be pleanty to tell. Hope your having an amazing time, and I'll see you in the new year!! xxx Ellie

Hoi lisie frisie,

Becks
(sorry if you get this twice)
It seems very funny to see pictures of you in the sunshine given the 6 inches of snow we have here at the moment. Sophie was very excited when it snowed as that meant that Aunty Becky was coming home and then Father Christmas would come. It was hard to tell here that she would have to wait for a few weeks before you would be home! We are all looking forward to having you home, but until then have a fantastic "Endex" and safe journey home. Can't wait to hear all the stories and see the pictures.
Lots of love from Emma, Mark & Sophie xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hey Ootje!
BUT WHY OLIVIER!!?

Message for Ian Wildsmith.

Hi Ian,
Not sure when you'll get this, but we wanted to let you know that the 3 of us (Chloe couldn't make it) are now safely back, having been up to Darlington for Auntie Lilian's send-off. We've had really awful weather in the UK - especially in Northumberland and Yorkshire with really thick snow - up to the kitchen window sill in Aunty Lynne's back garden - and hazardous travelling conditions - so we decided to travel by train rather than drive. We went up on Thursday and returned late on Friday afternoon. Most people managed to make it. It was a really good, fitting service - and it was good to see Andrew and Reece again. They had to divert their flight to Heathrow as Gatwick was closed.
Needless to say we have had hardly any snow - no days off school - just lots of scraping windsreens!
Hope the gravity is behaving itself and that you're having a good time feeding it with water - or whatever it is your actually doing!
Looking forward to seeing you - but at the same time not wanting your experience to end too soon!
Love Mum, Dad and Leila. XXX

Lieve Leontien,

Alles goed daar? Hard werken? Hier alles goed.

Mam

Jolien Roos said...

Lieve leo,

Duizend kusjes,

Sinterklaasavond 5 december 2010.

Hi Reinier, we have missed you today. Looking forward to seeing you soon, I love you, oma.

Heee Reinier!

Hello Shauna T
We are all well. Kelsey had a great birthday. Luke, Jack and Rob were wrestling me and throwing me around like a rag doll in a stupid mood. (think of Luke at his most annoying and you will get the picture x 3) I fell into the gnome water feature which then fell on me! Mark was only concerned about the gnome (who escaped without injury where as i didn't)Zack showed concern through his laughter. Jack got the Keys to the Burger Barn and is very busy getting it ready for opening. Beckys bitrhday next week. Take care and will see you in a few weeks. Lots of love the Kilminster hotel

Hallo Olivier,

Hi Ellie,
Another Monday morning! Mum drove me to the station in the dark and snow. Cold on the platform, but a real warm fug on the train. Everyone wrapped up! I have your stuff (as requested) with me in case I don't get home next weekend.
W and I had good birthdays and were very happy with their presents. You were included in all the cards! Your little car has been a star in the snow - much better than the big one!
I'm a celeb finished on sat. I got into it fir the first time which the others found amusing. Stacey won (well deserved) with Sean a close (and amusing) second. William got bored with me saying 'I don't know what they're moaning about; they've only been in the jungle 15 days, Ellie's been there for 8 weeks!'.
Raymond says our room should be finished today and then he'll start on the bathroom. More mess! I think he may do your radiator today. Mum says she feels so sorry for you and can understand why you couldn't get out of bed - it's freezing in your room!

That's all my news. Everyone is well, hope you are.

Lots of love

Hellooo Mary Greene,
The blogs been offline for a while!
Glad it's back on, hope it's going good over there,
oooohhh my god the cast of glee performed live on xfactor last night it was SO GOOD, we have to go see them in their tour!!!
Also there is a new series of misfits starting soon, thought you might be interested to know (I think it was you that liked it?), i'll get mum to record it just incase.

Home's good, we've had snow everywhere the country ground to a halt AGAIN, we need to buy more grit I swear,

thats pretty much all, exciting that you're coming home in 2 weeks!!! I wont be there when you get home though i'm still at uni :( but i'll be back like 2 days after so no fear :D

hope your having a good time and have earned another nickname with your ridiculous strength.

Love you loads,

Hey Mary, Yay the blog is back on! We haven't forgot you just couldn't access the blog for a few days. Hope you are having a fab time. Can't wait to see some new pics and find out what you've been up to.
Me and Dad are doing ok but the time seems to be dragging now. We are keeping busy though. Kwasi sent a text saying he will visit at xmas so we might have one extra for xmas dinner!
It was the xfactor semi final on Saturday but i won't say who went out. The cast of Glee sang on the results show. It reminded me of our xfactor semi final experience! Talking of Oldies Club, me and Dad did a transport run on Saturday for a 15 year old miniature poodle. He was like a little old man. We took him from Romford to Cambridge ish.
We have had really bad weather with snow and ice. We sent everyone home from work early today as there was a problem with the mains electrics and we had no heating. I battled through 'til nearly 5 though, it was worse than anything that you will have experienced in Borneo, I had to keep my coat on all day!
Your room is done as much as it's going to be, I just need to do something with the carpet - now that's a challenge!
Anyway my sugar lump I need to sleep. I will blog soon and I will try to be a better blogger.
love you xx MILLIONS xx Mum xxxxxxxx

I have managed to talk myself into going to work every day despite the weather.

Stacey!!! You look so well and it looks so beautiful out there. It's bloody grey and freezing here. Hope you're having an amazing time, I can't wait to hear all about and catch up hopefully before I start in India. Am totally ready to go now as had the training weekend recently and am so excited about it but have a month still to go which is actually a good thing as I still need to buy most of my kit! About to head into covent garden to try on yet more rucksacks! The boys are the same as ever, either drunk or hungover, or both! And LAurie cooked an amazing Christmas dinner on Sunday eve which I'm still foll from 2 days later. We've just started doing viewings for my room which is proving a nightmare to arrange as we're all out at xmas drinks for most of the next 2 weeks but hopefully we'll find a gap somewhere, there's been a fair bit of interest which is a good sign but I have a feeling the boys will be quite fussy as the standards have been set so high with you and me :) Oh and I've managed to raise most of my money now and had a really funny chinese karaoke fundraiser night last week which was so funny - Niall can actually sing pretty well but we managed to drown him out with our dreadful voices. Anyway, better get off, hope you're well and you enjoy the last phase, you won't want it to end now! Good luck, take care and can't wait to catch up - miss you lots!! Jen x x

Hi Ian,
It's Tuesday 7th here, and just to let you know your letter reached us yesterday. Many thanks - it was great to read some of the detail of what you've been up to. Doesn't seem possible that you've only got another 10 days out there. One thing is safe to say - it has to be a lot warmer there than here - it's been absolutely freezing these last 2 weeks. Still not too much snow in Wiltshire, although I went down to the south coast yesterday and there was loads of snow still lying just south of Warminster. (Leila here - I was very disappointed that Dad didn't bring any of the snow back for me for my birthday!)
As usual we're starting to get ground-rush as far as Christmas is concerned - have you had any thoughts of what you'd like? If so, let me know if you get a chance - on MSN or via email - but don't worry if you can't - I'm sure you've got plenty of other things on your mind at the moment!
Things haven't changed much here - I'm still slaving over a hot computer and your Ma's keeping the village pub in custom - she's out for 4 Christmas meals there this week!
Hope you really enjoy your last week or so in the jungle - and that the closing ceremony goes with a bang.
Oh - by the way - your car got MOT'd today.
Looking forward to seeing you soon.
Love from Dad, Mum & Leila XXX

Hi Merel,

Hello dear CMKM Bitia
How are you? I know we have not been in touch for sometime. Nothing special just usual tasks. How is gravity water feed going? Have you been under that fall and had a real bath under fall's moti moti drops! I can imagine all that. Hope you are having loads of fun. Now update from this end. It has snowed whole week last week. My car is najook Hasina-no good. Dad had been ferrying me around until today when your black beauty came handy. Drives really well. Has not stalled yet. I am off to India for a week tomorrow for Ashok mama ji,s silver wedding anniversary and their house warming. Had been in two minds whether to go or not. In the end managed to swap my jobs at work, so decided to go.
Should be nice. I think you would have returned to your base when I am back on 15th Dec. We did see your photo , U looked very excited as expected. By the way the girl in a photo whose face is covered by baba ji type hair, is that you. If not then you have a clone!
I must go to bed now. Have sorted stuff mainly sarees this time. Will put them in suitcase in the morning as would be leaving around 9ish in your posh black beauty for Newcastle-LHR-Delhi-Bhopal.

To Mary Greene

Can you feel the excitement building Mary? Nearly christmas and I'm a celebrity has finished and Stacey Solomon won!!! yah!. As you can tell, we are gripped by reality TV. Saves us actually getting lives. Mince pie season has officially started. Doing taste tests as I type. When you get home I know you will be tactful about the expanding waist line. Yes the snow. just read how Rae has been battling and overcoming all odds. You see, that wartime spirit is alive and well. Makes you proud eh?

Take care Mary. Keep well and happy. Lots and Lots of Love,

Beste Merel,

This is a message for the fieldbase nurse aka Simon Davies. (The same nurse who earned respect by treking for 12days without a break)

Hope fieldbase hasn't been too dull. Quite a shock getting back to England in terms of temperature. Also life at home is so routine and dull compared to Raleigh. Have been treking to the shops to keep entertained, no cobras to battle though so not quite as brutal treking as Long Pa'sia.

Anyway am sure you've seen what happened with the sacking of Hughton, is an absolute joke. Think we're appointing Alan Pardew in the next few days which means we've pretty much guaranteed ourself relegation this year. We were awful the other day against Brom btw.

Say hello to the fieldbase crew for me

Henry

p.s. can you remember to get my parang passed to Dan.

Lieve Cathrien

always yours,

Berend

ps: I love you

Hi Lieve Maxim,

To Marie Thomas,

Hello my lovely. The time when I get to see you will soon be here. I am very excited! I hope you have had an amazing time and enjoyed the diving. Hope you made friends with lots of pretty fish.

All is good in Oz. The sun is shining and the sea is warming up.

I will pick you up from the airport when you arrive and have a hostel sorted for us to crash in. Looking forward to catching up with you so much. Christmas is going to be great fun. Lots of parties planned!

See you soon my dear and enjoy your last days

Love Clare xxx
