Phase Two Loop Goes on Tour

Field base is very quiet this morning, now that the loop has departed for its phase two tour.  This time the loop team is made up of Mac, our country programme manager, Tom, our accountant and James from the logs team.

James, Tom, Mac

The loop visits all the static sites by driving around Borneo delivering letters from home, blog messages and equipment. The team have had a busy week preparing for the tour, pulling together a long list of essential supplies including:
  • tarps
  • hammers
  • jerry cans
  • water funnels
  • kitchen knives
  • gaffer tape
  • water scoops
  • glue
  • chilli sauce
  • recipes for pizza dough and bread
Once again, six alpha groups will be competing with each other in a 'Come Dine With Me' style competition.  The loop team will judge each alpha group to see which one delivers them the best evening with points awarded for welcome, food and entertainment. Results will be announced at the next changeover on the 19th March.

Off on the road

The loop visit takes place on the following dates
  • Alpha two - 5th March
  • Alpah five - 6th March
  • Alpha four - 7th March
  • Alpha one - 8th March
  • Alpha three - 9th March
  • Alpha six and back to field base - 10th March
Keep those blog messages coming, they are one of the best highlights on the loop and at changeover!

Hey Tim (alpha 5)
Just to let you know we haven't forgotten you (as if), just checking the blog every hr. Been no trips to Ad Lib (remember the taste of those juicy burgers?!), hope you are getting more than tapioca and rice for dinner. Mum's written you a letter, she is waiting patiently for yours by return (ha ha). Max is waiting by the door.....
Take care, Dad

Paul Choat, can't wait to hear an update of you're fun times!! Was out last night(NEVER drink megan&sean's punch!!) saw some of your gang, and the tron-ite. They say they miss you, well, i think thats what was said... poor Talky Malky was dribbling, and big man Barry fell asleep in the corner!!! It was generally agreed that life was very odd without you though! Nobody tells me about their poo quite like you :P
Off to go try and fix Dopey's light later-and maybe figure a way to clean out fluff...he's stinky!!
Anyhow, this has turned out into a it of a ramble, hope everything is going amazingly, i'm sure it will be!!
Thinking of you always.

Hi Becki (Alpha 1)
Are you losing the weight now?
Bet its a hard slog in the heat!
Spoke to Barbie today and they are very envious of your trip, and say hello. They also said that Annie will definately be doing something similar when she is old enough!
They are off to Fiji for a holiday next week. We are all fine, but there is still no sign of any warmer weather! Roll on Spring!
Ruth and Peter also send their love, and are still trying to work out how to send you a blog. Don't hold your breath!
Missing you loads!
Love and kisses,
Mumxxxx

Message for Hannah (Alpha 8)
Dearest Hannah,
Well, your sis still has all her own teeth but has certainly collected several bruises. What a violent game that is. glad we went to see her play and that it was bright and sunny: could have been sooo much worse, given the weather we've been having. Thought of you while we were there as Imperial's playing fields are under the flight path for Heathrow. Had plenty of time for plane spotting in between bouts of lacrosse. Left before the finals as we were out in the evening so we don't know how they got on overall. I'm sure all this sounds very tame compared to the adventures you are having but at least you will feel less like you're coming out of a time warp when you come home. Another week over: been strange not seeing you after the earlier photos and news from Imbak. I daresay you will 'surface' once you reach the Dive School. Much love, hugs and kisses, Mum,Dad and Beth xxxxxxxxxx

Hello Christina (alpha 5),

Realise I've just missed the Loop which was with you yesterday, but perhaps you'll get the message if you return to base on 19 March. We may get a report soon on the blog from Imbak Canyon. Hope you are bearing up with the hot climate and with carrying tons of rock and have managed to see some wildlife (apart from leeches)!

Everyone is fine here, and next week is 8th week of term. The weather has turned sunny although still cold. We had a video call from C. and A. last night where Cordelia said 'no' a lot and showed us Ellie, while E. showed her soft dog collection.

Much love from us all, Mammy

Hi Tim (Alpha 5)
You may not receive this for some days as I see the Loop team visited on 6th March. Am thinking of you and hope the job is getting done and that you are enjoying yourself at the same time. Are you are helping to cook and I wonder if you have seen any gibbons or other wildlife. Plenty of muscles when you return to clear out the garage!
Love, Gran

Take care and can't wait to talk to you on your return to base. Lots of love from mum xxxx PS don't forget a letter, please!

Hi Rosie
What a wonderful spot for your next project. I hope the sand flies are bring kind- has to beat leeches right? I was going to say it was a shame your bus broke down but now it seems you have 3 weeks on the beach so I won't be too sympathetic.
it has finally stopped raining here. Starting to warm up a little. its been a long hard winter.
The show went really well - usually does! Everyone enjoyed it. Lots of hits in a short time.
Keep having fun! Mumx

Aernout,

To Toby,
sorry to hear about the medical problems at sandhurst. Hope it all goes well and that you'll be in by September. Trek was amazing people were great. It was more focussed on survival not distance. People make the places so they so they both have their own attractions don't know when I will be back mum has me traveling on in Asia and she's only just told me about it so I will tell when I know that I'm back in England.
Wee man
