The End!

That's all, folks.

The Raleigh Borneo expedition 09B is now officially over! At the time of writing, all the participants are either on the plane on the way home, or have been released into the big wide world (well, Kota Kinabalu backpacker hostels) to continue their travels in South East Asia and beyond.

We've had a brilliant couple of days here to round off the expedition, with plenty of sunshine and a packed schedule. The official Closing Ceremony, hosted by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Sabah, took place on Wednesday evening.

Last night was the participants' party, which was held a couple of hours along the coast at a longhouse right on the beautiful white sand beach. The sun shone, we had an awesome barbecue, DJ Gerard rocked the place, and a great time was had by all. The stunning sunset was a fitting end to what's been a really successful expedition.

We wish all the participants the very best in whatever they move on to next (we miss them already!),and huge thanks go to the entire volunteer staff team, who have got a couple more days' work to do before they can chill out on the beach for a very well deserved rest!

Hello Raleigh Team,

I want to thank you for taking care of our children and giving them this wonderful experience, which I know will last a life time. It was great to see how they were getting along and working very hard to help people in a less fortunate situation.

Thanks again,
Huub's Mum & Dad

Hi Raleigh team
Thanks for the great time I already know my son has had and I'm sure when he gets home tomorrow I will hear of other fantastic experiences that he has had. Is there any chance that you could put on the face book photos that you posted at the end of phase 2 as they are no longer acessible and I am trying to put together a disk of memories for him. Hope you can help and a big thanks.
Nicky. (Jamie's mum).

To all at Raleigh

Well done for surviving another expedition and thank you for all the hard work you have put in. It is wonderful to know that there is an organisation available which has given my son the opportunity to help others and learn more about the world (and himself) in an environment that gives me peace of mind.

I certainly have appreciated it.

Best wishes for the future.

Hi everyone at Raleigh,

We have just spent the day reliving Harry’s amazing exploits and looking at his wonderful awe-inspiring pictures. Since the day he booked his trip we have felt very positive about the choice he made in Raleigh International, in looking for a life changing experience. Every aspect has lived up to his and our expectations and more some!
Thank you all for your thought and care in making this possible. He is proud of what he has achieved and we are very proud of him.
I don’t think it’s the last you’ll be hearing of him!

With our best wishes
Amanda and Paul Harding

A big Thankyou to everyone at Raleigh.

Emily is home safe and has not yet stopped talking. The biggest thanks is for the fact that every thing she's said so far is fascinating to hear. It's been a great experience she'll never forget.

Well done to every one.

Dear Raleigh Staff,

Our daughter, Emma, has arrived home safely. She has had an amazing time in Malaysia with all of you of Raleigh, and we are sure that experiences she has had during her stay with Raleigh will benefit her in her future.
It is remarkable to see that working hard, having no communications as they are used to having etc. living a simple life, can have such a super effect on people. Once again thanks for all the good work and hard effort you have put into these past few week.
